These strips -- jumping from alien strangeness to local Lancaster comment -- reflect the many aspects of the Greatcoat. Nightingale Hall Farm is an animal rendering plant that persistently emitted noxious disgusting smells until very recently. In 2003, after a battle which had dragged on for years, the Farm was finally forced to do something about the infamous stink it created. The resolution of the battle is a testament to the many local campaigners who never gave up trying to do something about their town.
