The British Post Office, in its infinite wisdom, has been closing down small post offices and ripping the hearts out of local communities. Here on the Greatcoat we're totally convinced that they won't be happy until everyone has to collect thier mail from some concrete shed in the middle of nowhere rather than have it delivered.
The cost cutting measures are a total kick in the head for local communities for the sake of so-called "modernisation".
In Torrisholme, Morecambe, the local post office serving some 7000 people was earmarked for closure in April 2004. Local people are stunned by the decision. And so are we.
