(Found by KneRadio): Whether screenshotyou're mad about pantomime, stamp collecting, or full-coverage beachwear, this online magazine "unconcerned with current issues and affairs" has your number. In celebration of all things kitschy and outdated, the "unresponsible editors" of Tacky Times have unearthed a joyful array of articles from yesteryear that are sure to raise the eyebrows of even the most worldly modern-day culture aficionado. For kicks, pay homage to your favorite '50s pinup or hop along for a ride in the magical floating sidecar -- but if you're considering letting your teenage daughter flutter off to Paris unattended, you may want to think twice after hearing about Lily's scandalous turn-of-the-century shenanigans. Is that a glimpse of ankle we see?

ImplosionWorld.com
Found by KenRadio.com: This site illustrates what happens when good buildings go bad. Sure, the site is the demolition industry's "worldwide source for news and information on building implosions, blowdowns and all other types of structural blasting projects." In that respect, it accomplishes its goal of providing an informational resource for professionals. But in addition to those worthy pursuits, the explosive content provides an entertaining forum for those of us who don't know the difference between dynamite and RDX.
The Photos section features demolitions of sports stadiums, public housing developments, hotels, and more, while Blasts from the Past chronicles unique and challenging projects from around the world.
If you're looking for more action than a still photo can provide, check out the Cinema Explosif', a collection of the "finest in explosive cinematic adventures." Because when it comes down to it, who doesn't like to watch a good implosion?

• Word Count
Link: www.wordcount.org
(Sourced from KenRadio): Did you know greatcoat is the 35,191 ranked word in the English language?
This artistic language experiment looks at how we use words and how often we use them. Presenting "the 86,800 most frequently used English words, ranked in order of commonality," the site talks the talk. To use it, simply type a word, and the site returns its rank in English usage. But where do they get the information? The site uses data from the British National Corpus®, a collection of more than 100 million words representing a cross-section of English usage. The number one ranked word is just that, but it comes as a mild surprise that "conquistador" brings up the rear. Another cool feature of this experiment is that the size of each word is relative to the words before and after it, giving a visual representation of how much we use it.
