• BBC Research Central
Not just images (four million of 'em) but audio and video too. As yet
there's no online search facillity. I often used the BBC Photo Library
while I was editor of Doctor Who Magazine and once you got to know the
team they were immensely helpful to us in tracking down the unusual photographs
no-one had seen before.
• Corbis
65 Million Images, 2.1 Million Online: at the
heart of Corbis' products and services is the Corbis Collection, the largest
accumulation of digital images in the world.
The collection includes the world's most significant photography and art
from more than 3,000 of the best professional photographers, museums,
cultural institutions, public and private collections in the world, including
Ansel Adams, Annie Griffith Belt, David Muench, Galen Rowell, David and
Peter Turnley, Mark Seliger, The National Gallery - London, the Bettmann
Archive, The State Hermitage Museum - St. Petersburg, Lynn Goldsmith,
