Doomwatch
Chris Smith's Classic Television: Doomwatch Page
Peter Culley's Doomwatch Page

Created by Kit Pedler and Gerry Davis, "Doomwatch" was the nickname of the Department of Observation and Measurement of Scientific Work, a department of the 'Ministry of National Security'. The department was a watchdog to the scientific work, supposed to ensure that public and environmental safety was not compromised. Although its creation was a cynical attempt to win votes and they were not intended to have much sway, the leader of the group, Dr Spencer Quist (John Paul), ensured that they never stayed in the background for very long.

Early EditionEarly Edition
This show ran for four seasons on CBS, centring on a divoced guy, Gary Hobson (Kyle Chandler) who gets tomorrow's newspaper today - delivered by a cat - and tries to save people who might otherwise be killed or injured or killed, stop crimes (and other things).
Hallmark UK screened the entire series in 2004 and I enjoyed most of it, especially the myhology episodes where Gary tries to uncover just how or who the newsper is delivered. There's a great dynamic between the main characters (Gary's friendship with blind friend Marissa is one of the best platonic relationships between opposite sexes I've seen on fantasy genere TV), although the show does seem to stumble during season three with the introdcution of an 'annoying kid'. Thankfully he and his mother leave at the end of the season.
There are several web sites devoted to the show and there seem to be regular fan conventions in Chicago, where
Early Edition was shot. TV Tome has an excellent episode guide, while this site run by the EElFest convention organisers (http://www.geocities.com/eelfestnews) includes an interesting Q&A section with script writer Sean Clark. Early Dues Early Edition includes interviews (most of them quite old) with some of the cast as well as a detailed episode guide and plenty of links (http://earlydues.hispeed.com/ee).For the picky viewer, there's a brief nitpicker's guide here: hobsonphile.homestead.com/nitpick.html
Actor Fisher Stevens (Chuck Fishman) has a fan web site here: earlydues.hispeed.com/fisher

Re-shown on ITV3 in 2005, Robin of Sherwood is the creation of the brilliant Richard Carpenter and was made in England from 1983-1985, produced by Paul Knight for Goldcrest. I'd quite forgotten what a cracking show this was, and will always treasure the time I spent alongside some of the series stars while editor of Doctor Who Magazine, at a Visions convention in Chicago, drinking the hotel bar dry of any imported beer with any strength to it!
Michael Praed starred as the Hooded Man in the first two series and Jason Connery became Herne's Son for the third series.
